Frequently asked questions

Why is a distinction made between rescue and evacuation?

Rescue involves a medical necessity, for example following a serious injury or illness. Evacuation means removing a person from a danger zone even though no medical treatment is required.

Evacuations without medical necessity are generally not covered. SOS144 Max provides a clearly limited exception for defined incidents on trekking tours, such as a mountain emergency caused by getting lost, taking a wrong route, becoming stranded or exhaustion.
